ABOUT THE SHOW

A trip back to Las Vegas' most celebrated era, The Rat Pack is Back! goes back to 1961, when savvy dames and swingin' cats were as much a part of Las Vegas culture as slot machines and table games. Entertainers were well-known for their witty banter as well as for musical stylings that were as smooth as silk. From cocktail servers to showroom décor, The Rat Pack is Back! is a song, dance and comedy tribute to the era that made Las Vegas the entertainment oasis it is today.

THE RAT PACK IS BACK! PERFORMERS

MICHAEL CIVISCA as "FRANK"

Michael Civisca has never accepted anything resembling a slow pace, except when he's crooning a traditional ballad. Maybe it's because he got to music relatively late in life - he didn't start singing in public until his 30s when he began performing around his home in Buffalo, NY with various jazz groups. Michael made a local splash in 1997 when he recorded his first album, "Collection of Great Standards", for Rhapsody Records (a small independent label in Buffalo, NY). A national radio station picked up on the young singer and began within the year, Civisca was offered a brief recording contract with Michael Jackson and Sony Music. Sony re-released the album nationally, winning Civisca a wider following. Civisca founded his own record label, Neptune Music in 1999. By 2002 he had performed in venues across the country; appeared in the soundtrack of Mel Gibson's movie, Payback; starred in Las Vegas; and released two more Cds: "Live with The Trio" and the well received "Love Is Like A Breeze" which he recorded in London with a 75 piece orchestra and producer/arranger legend, Charlie Calello.

For Civisca, life is music and vice versa. Since parting ways with the major labels, Civisca has attained what he so desperately sought while recording for others: a greater artistic say in his music. "The time was exciting for me because I was able to get a glimpse at how the industry worked," Civisca said. "[But] one of the aspects that continued to get frustrating was my creativity. I had strong ideas about the song arrangements, and nowhere to voice them.'' The best news is that Civisca is a fine singer with a great sense of timing and pace along with an intuitive, savior-faire feel for the music. Michael Civisca has now started a new company called Amio Music. Amio will work toward producing shows that focus on the music and songwriters that helped create the era of American popular music.

RICK MICHEL as "DEAN"

Rick has been a master impressionist for over 30 years. Michel considers himself lucky to have shared the stage with many successful celebrities as Rich Little, Mickey Rooney, and Sherman Hemsley. Some of the esteemed guests who have enjoyed Michel's impersonations include Gerald Ford, Frank Sinatra, and Steve Allen. A memorable highlight of Michel's career came when he performed his impression of Bob Hope for the comedic icon himself, at the Bob and Delores Hope Celebrity Golf Classic in Palm Springs. Other career highlights for Michel have included appearances in episodes of "Baywatch", "America's Funniest People", "Karaoke Krazy" and the "Larry King Show". In 1996, Michel began to divide his time between performances in Las Vegas and acting classes in Los Angeles. Las Vegas proved to be a showcase for Rick's talents, and he has appeared in such distinguished shows as "Comedy Cabaret" and "Forbidden Vegas". In the past year Michel has performed at the Governors Ball and hosted the television show "Karaoke Krazy". Michel is involved in several charities in Las Vegas including the Salvation Army Christmas Toys For Tots, Fox 5 "Take 5 for Kids" Suitcase drive, Help Them Walk Again Foundation, and Make A Difference Day 1999.

DOUG STARKS as "SAMMY"

Starks has performed for audiences across the country from the Radio City Music Hall in New York City, to Caesars Palace and the Aladdin hotels in Las Vegas, to the West Coast, with performances at the famed Roxy on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Starks has studied the live entertainment style of the early 1960's and has incorporated a tribute into his performances for several years. He credits this tribute for preparing him in preparing him in his current role. "The Reverend, Brother, Pastor, Deacon, Doctor Doug" is a comedy character created by Sparks for a nationally syndicated radio show that he writes himself. Starks performs this character, who is in a spoof of a bootleg televangelist operating out of a small store front church in Inner City, USA. Just prior to joining "The Rat Pack is Back!", Starks opened for the Four Tops at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and has opened for Julio Iglesias since 1995.

Who were those guys?

Members of the original "Rat Pack" included Frank Sinatra (the leader), Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop...and Shirley Maclaine, who was an "honorary" rat Pack member!

The Rat Pack was at its height from the late 1950's to the mid 1960's. The original leader of the Pack (sometimes they were called the "Clan") was Humphery Bogart. The term “The Rat Pack” was coined by Bogart's wife, actress Lauren Bacall. She said that they looked like a pack of wet rats one night when they came home from carousing, and the name stuck. After Bogart's death in the late 1950's, Frank Sinatra became the leader of the Pack, and the rest is history!
